NorthwoodsBrewer502 This is my intro to this band and absolutely blew my mind... it has the old black metal sound, in diversity ... the 90s era, from under a funeral moon to filosofem to hammerheart , but with these psychedelic prog vocals with astute and thought provoking lyrics with a poignant message (while not preachy in the slightest... ) deep , cold atmospheres... an amazing album I cherished on the beautiful, bitter northern minnesota nights under the stars and in the snow storms.

modifier Something like the big B in here. The derivative style is spot on and personally I like this more.
I can still hear it's Hexvessel, so..
Dunno, doesn't fit every possible mood, but for those cold lonely winter nights, this brings all the mood you'd like.. And beyond. Favorite track: A Cabin In Montana.

yelworK it's the same hexvessel you know and love (lyrically and vocally), this time with atmospheric black metal music. This suits me juuuussstttt fine. :)

rvss.eel This is the Hexvessel album that I've always wanted Kvohst to make. We have always known of the black metal roots feeding the band, but with Polar Veil, those roots have reached up out of the ground to guide the musicians' hands (nevermind that the ground is tundra and the subsoil is frozen... The Tundra Is Awake). This is not a black metal album, but it carries that energy, and its mood is winter. And that magnificent cover art? Yes, it confirms things. This will be THE album of this winter. Favorite track: The Tundra Is Awake.

Peter Richter Every new Hexvessel album sounds different from the previous offers, and Polar Veil is no different. Definitely their heaviest, darkest album to date with Mat's vocals sounding more somber and haunting than ever.

The Tundra Is Awake It’s a dangerous trail That we navigate Death Transcends all mystery A vast and unknown casm yawns Clarity unbound by law messages sent from outer space valley floor to pinnacle There’s a fire in the soul A howling in the blood Wilderness beyond belief The paradise we hold within Forever out of reach Outside the walls The wild world awaits Escape to our true self Pine sap, elm and juniper origins of the universe The tundra is awake While the world is sleeping The tundra is awake While the world is sleeping

OLDER THAN THE GODS I breathe I speak I sing for the dawn I grow I sigh I echo Through the oak I melt I boil I toughen Like iron I’ve weathered all these years A riddle in the stone For too long my story’s been untold Thaw my songs from the frost Cast the spell of words unspoken Older than the gods We are tales that never should be buried Pass my wisdom on Where golden fields gamble with the sunlight Older than the gods I reach I spread I rake Through the ground I shine I glide I descend into swamps I colour I copper I brighten The fires I’ve forested the seeds From marshes out-spreading For too long my story’s been untold Thaw my songs from the frost Cast the spell of words unspoken Older than the gods We are tales that never should be buried Pass my wisdom on Where golden fields gamble with the sunlight Older than the gods

Listen to the river When the cities turn to deserts And we carry our weightless bones Our bodies will need no marker And our ashes will need no urns HEAR THE LANDSCAPE LISTEN TO THE RIVER THE ANCIENT LANGUAGE RIVEN IN WATER There's a whisper in the ether Rising and falling in flow If you only stop to consider What it means to know and to be known HEAR THE LANDSCAPE LISTEN TO THE RIVER THE ANCIENT LANGUAGE RIVEN IN WATER In the primitive museum The gods will start to dance The totems come to life The totems come to life On the altars of their temples The forests repossess The totems come to life The totems come to life
4.
Cabin In Montana North-ward song Crystalline woods Rainfall on moss Life begins anew Who speaks for the wolf? Freedom Who speaks for the wolf? Freedom I think I will send you a letter From a cabin in Montana Follow the wings of the morning To a deeper sense of belonging I think I will send you a letter From a cabin in Montana Following the bends of the river To a deeper sense of meaning Mist on pines Stumps, stars and moon Seasons expire Day turns to night Who speaks for the wolf? Freedom Who speaks for the wolf? Freedom
5.
ETERNAL MEADOW There is a birch Standing In a hollow The birds sit within it Eagles nest in the boughs The ancients took you in Become pure inspiration Transformed animal Occult illustration Beyond abstract shadows In the eternal meadow We watch you fill the sky Ever ascending Thus spake the eagle In sacred song Forever thankful for Their place of nesting No limitation Where vistas look within And outside limitation We’re left to find you On brighter horizons If I step within your inner temple A nocturnal eclipse of ancient wisdom The secrets of life And death are revealed In memory of our friend “Eternal” Timo Ketola (1975 - 2020
6.
Crepuscular Creatures This is the opening door Where ancestors peer inside Take off your skeleton You’ll become space between stars We didn’t come here To gently sway our limbs in the breeze We came to lose our wings grown up on roots And an aura of gloom The mad earth draws us up into the curve of a moon’s wound We travel vespertine Crepuscular creatures These are Insatiable fields Demanding meditation pricked by the glow Of something transmogrified From this life Or before Cloak-world opens up Death brings us on Dawn is off to call on a friend Night erupts a tidal wave The magic dusk of our chosen blood

Ring 04:40
RING The sun sinks below the earth each aching minute the sky grows darker I pull my body to the soil the moon is leaking underneath an ocean The trees that circle in a ring will see me leaving this being and like a supernatural dream I will rise and cease to exist Spirits swim within my bones each step we take is ancient conversation my body watches as they call behind the clearing my name's the word they're mouthing The trees that circle in a ring will see me leaving this being and like a supernatural dream I will rise and cease to exist

Homeward Polar Spirit The ways of the land The old beaten track Treescapes smoulder blue Star-lake on loop Glow-eyed windows Mist in the hollows kinship of the seasons keeping colder currents horsepower of hope Well-spring of gratitude Let the world break down While you remain ours Under the polar moon Loyal to this soil Under the polar night Feel my force field I am this holy landscape Here my heart breathes & dies Homeward polar spirit Here my Inner life thrives revel in the grace Roots regrow Necessary opposites My ageless abode A friendly welcome Sun sinks so low Frozen in beauty Pupils dilate horsepower of hope Well-spring of gratitude Let the world break down While you remain ours Under the polar moon Loyal to this soil Under the polar night Feel my force field I am this holy landscape Here my heart breathes & dies Homeward polar spirit Here my Inner life thrives Homeward polar spirit Take me away Homeward polar spirit I am yours
